As soon as it was released in 1997 Power Plant became an instant success, a heavy yielding and highly stable classic. Power Plant is a mostly sativa variety from South Africa and the original version is only available from Dutch Passion. It is a heavy yielder for indoor, greenhouse and outdoor gardens (does well in Mediterranean climates) with bumper yields of 500-600 grams/m2 and is popular with recreational and medical users. It was only ever inbred by us, never hybridised, and remains a pure and stable strain with a great and well deserved reputation. When it was first released every coffeeshop wanted Power Plant on their menu and it is still found in Dutch coffeeshops today.
Power Plant is rich in THC and delivers a formidable strong „up‟ high with a fresh flavour, smooth/soft smoke and sweet after- taste. The plants reach 1-1.5m tall and the buds are often 30+cm long, with small leaves in them.
Strain FAQ
What reported medical benfits are high-THC strains said to have?
High-THC cannabis has been reported to help individuals with persistent pain, nausea, or epilepsy, amongst many other ailments. However, it is said that what works depends on the user, and this shows the need for proper tailored medical advice from a professional.
Are there high-yielding strains with shorter flowering times?
Absolutely. There are a large number of high yielding strains that only take eight to 10 weeks from flowering. This variety lets legal growers pick strains that suit their growing cycles and timeframes.
How do IBL strains affect hybrid cannabis breeding?
New hybrid strains need IBL strains as genetic foundations. Their genetic purity and stability make them suitable for crossbreeding because they can predictably pass on desired qualities to hybrids. Breeders can regulate and efficiently develop new strains this way.
Can greenhouse cannabis strains create microclimates?
Fascinatingly it is reported that some strains adjust their greenhouse environment to suit them. This ability to adapt to microclimates can reportedly produce distinctive plant qualities like bright colours and bud structures. There are those that say that a greenhouse can bring out the best in cannabis.
Were Sativa strains ever used for anything other than getting high or medicine?
Sativas' capabilities go beyond just these two things. Their strong fibres have been used to make ropes, clothes, and paper. This shows just how varied and valuable the cannabis plant has been even before its more modern uses.
