Skunk 1

Skunk 1 is one of those names that still means something. Barney’s Farm Seeds works with the classic Afghan x Acapulco Gold x Colombian Gold parentage here, a three-way line that helped define the old-school skunk profile: pungent, earthy, citrus-bright and unmistakably cannabis.

At Seed City, Skunk 1 is available as both feminised and regular seeds. It is a photoperiod variety with a 70% indica and 30% sativa balance, and Barney’s Farm lists the THC content at 26%.

The flavour and aroma are the main draw if you like classic skunk rather than modern dessert-heavy profiles. The smell is pungent and skunky first, with earthy depth underneath and fresh citrus lifting it. The taste follows the same line: classic skunk intensity, bright citrus notes and a grounded earthy finish.

Effects are described as euphoric, relaxed and uplifted. It has a mood-raising side, but the indica share brings a deeper body relaxation as well. That makes the profile feel balanced rather than one-note, with mental clarity alongside physical ease.

How Skunk 1 grows

Plants show a sturdy indica-sativa hybrid structure, usually with a strong central stem, well-spaced side branches and lush green foliage. Buds form as dense, resinous colas along the branches and main stem, with chunky flowers and plenty of trichome coverage.

Indoors, Skunk 1 reaches around 120–150 cm and can yield up to 500 g/m². Flowering takes 65–75 days. Outdoors, plants can reach 150–200 cm, with harvests of up to 800 g per plant ready in the third to fourth week of October.

Because the flowers can become large and heavy, support such as stakes or trellising is recommended to help stop branches snapping. Good airflow is also important, especially indoors, as the dense buds need ventilation. Topping, low-stress training and ScrOG are all mentioned as suitable ways to shape the plant and improve light exposure.
