Big Buddha Seeds are rather surprisingly based in the UK. We don't get many seed producers based here for quite obvious reasons related to the unwelcoming legal environment, but they've managed to become something of a staple amongst seed collectors since their very beginnings. A lot of their initial success can be put down to their creation of the original Big Buddha Cheese strain which won the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2006. It's still to this day a heavily used Cheese variety and pushed them quite quickly to stratospheric heights!
Most of their breeding projects are actually carried out in the Mediteranean but they've been a part of the UK scene for so long that calling them a UK cannabis seed bank is still, we think, fair. Big Buddha himself, a man called Milo Yung has been in the UK papers quite a lot in the reefer madness years where all new strains were "skunk" strains and something to be feared. He also wrote in Weed World and various other online publications. After a load of time spent building the Big Buddha brand, Milo decided it was time for something new and that was The Original Big Buddha Family Farms, a collaboration between Big Buddha himself and breeders in the UK, Spain and the USA. Their aim was to create new varieties based on his classic Cheese strain as well as exciting new strains mixing Cheese with premium USA and Spanish genetics.
It's not all Cheese though and they've got a range of around 40 great strains which do include some non-Cheese based offerings. Those include classics like G-Bomb, Buddha Tahoe and The Kali. There's also something for the autoflowering fans with strains like Buddha Haze Automatic and Chiesel Automatic. If we had to narrow them down, we'd say they focus on releasing strains with really wide-ranging flavours and robust growth traits!
Unfortunately Milo, the Big Buddha himself, passed away on the 3 June 2020 but he will never be forgotten here in Seed City and we'll always remember him for the great work he did in furthering the cannabis cause and for producing some of the best strains of all-time!
