Boudica Seeds are a UK-based breeder with more than 20 years of experience behind them and a very straightforward philosophy — concentrate on flavour, terpenes and quality rather than trying to produce the biggest catalogue possible.

They’re particularly interested in those seriously loud, unusual terp profiles that you’re unlikely to mistake for anything else. Every strain is selected and tested before release and, rather than constantly adding new varieties, Boudica prefer to keep their collection relatively small and only release genetics they’re genuinely happy to put their name to.

Their opening strains give you a pretty good idea of what they’re all about. Rubber Tree combines Ol’ Drippy #3 from Hoku Seed Co with Original Buddha Cheese #1 from Original Big Buddha Family Farms. As the name suggests, it’s an unusual one with seriously funky rubber and petrol flavours alongside grapefruit coming from a particularly special Buddha Cheese phenotype.

Then there’s Grapefruit Funk, which crosses Fat Yeti #3 with that same Original Buddha Cheese #1. This time the result heads firmly towards grapefruit, old-school skunk and what Boudica rather brilliantly describe as a funky “farmyard” aroma!

It’s refreshing to see a new breeder starting out with a tightly selected range rather than fifty virtually indistinguishable hybrids. Boudica Seeds are clearly aiming at collectors who appreciate interesting genetics and genuinely distinctive flavours, and we’re looking forward to seeing where they take things next.
