Description
Banarama is Archive Seeds working a much-loved Banana OG line into a resin-heavy regular seeds release with plenty of room for selection. The cross is Banana OG x Planet Purple F2, with the Banana OG itself coming from OG Kush x Sagarmatha’s 60/40. It’s available as regular seeds, so it’s aimed at growers who are happy to sort males and females, keep favourites, or take the line further in their own breeding work.
The Banana OG side has a bit of proper modern cannabis history behind it. Created by Orgnkid, Banana OG combines the Dutch staple Skunk #1 lineage found in Sagarmatha’s 60/40 with the original OG Kush clone received through Josh D provenance around 2001. That parent is known for banana peel sweetness, darker earthy funk, strong frost and very good flower production. Archive’s Planet Purple F2 male is used here to add another level of resin and depth, rather than simply making a straight copy of Banana OG.
Banana, kush funk and selection room
The best plants are described around a runts-style candy profile, tropical banana and fried plantain, with deep musky kush notes sitting behind it. This isn’t just a light sweet banana strain. The OG influence from both sides brings a dank herbal funk, while some plants can show hints of Z from the Rainbow Belts lineage. If you like fruitier cannabis but still want weight, grease and kush depth, Banarama is built around that kind of contrast.
There are a couple of useful directions to look for in a pack. Some plants lean toward an improved Banana OG flower type, with more kushy, Sherb and Z-style depth. Others are larger Banana OG-dominant types with slightly longer flowering times, bigger biomass and serious resin production. Archive notes that the bigger yielding types don’t usually carry the same flavour depth and complexity as the greasier individuals, so this is a line where selection really matters.
That’s part of the appeal of the regular format. A grower can hunt for a keeper female with the flavour, structure and resin they prefer, or use selected males and females to make an F2 and tighten the line toward a more specific goal. Archive specifically points to the potential of chasing a combination of the stronger flavour and the heavier yields through further selection. For collectors and growers who enjoy working a line rather than just running one fixed expression, that gives Banarama more interest than a simple banana-flavoured release.
Flowering and resin performance
Flowering time is listed at 56–65 days, with Archive noting that Banarama finishes faster than Banana OG. The broader window makes sense for a line with more than one useful expression: the faster, greasier flower types may appeal to smokers chasing flavour, while the larger Banana OG-dominant plants with slightly longer flower times are the ones to watch for yield and wash potential.
Resin is one of the clearest selling points. Banana OG is already described as a frost-heavy plant and a well-known hash producer, and the Planet Purple F2 male is said to lift that even further. Archive’s selected keeper yielded 4.6% to rosin, despite being chosen mainly for better smoking flower rather than purely for extraction. That’s a handy detail because it shows the line isn’t split neatly into “flower only” or “hash only”; there are genotypes here that can satisfy both sides, depending on what you select.
Banarama is also presented as suitable for beginners and expert growers alike. The main decision point is not whether it needs specialist handling, but how much selection you want to do. If you just want banana-heavy flowers with kush and candy depth, there’s plenty to look for. If you’re hunting a washer, there are resin and biomass monsters in the mix. If you like regular seeds because they let you make choices and keep working with the genetics, this one gives you a lot to play with.
Choose Banarama if the idea of Banana OG with extra resin, less earthy drag and a wider flavour range sounds right. The standouts can carry tropical banana, fried plantain, candy, musky kush and occasional Z notes, with a flowering time that stays in a practical 56–65 day range.
