Yoshi

Yoshi is Archive Seeds working on the greener, fuel-heavy side of the Moonbow line. It is available as regular seeds and pairs Moonbow #99 x Oishii, using an Oishii male with Archive’s closely held Moonbow #99 selection.

Moonbow #99 is the point of interest here. Archive has described this phenotype as a favourite from the original Moonbow seed pop, especially for its flower quality and smoke. It has been kept back for years rather than widely released in hybrid form, partly because of how distinctive it is. It can be a little finicky to grow, but when it’s happy and dialled in, Archive rates the finished flower very highly.

The flavour and aroma are not in the soft, floral, purple-fruit style that dominates a lot of modern selections. Yoshi goes after deeper petrol notes: greasy diesel, heavy oil, two-stroke fuel and sweet green antifreeze-style funk, with darker berry and plum fruit-roll-up notes coming through from the Moonbow #99 side. Some genotypes can also show sweet incense and Oishii petrol fumes, with a room-filling quality after the flower has been handled or smoked.

Archive links Moonbow #99 to the “Diesel” type from that original Moonbow hunt, with a profile reminiscent of Schroomy’s Original Diesel grown around 20 years earlier. In this cross, Oishii is used to explore that darker, oilier side rather than pushing the line towards brighter fruit or colour-led selections. The breeder also notes that Moonbow #99 tends to work well in hybrids, often lifting desirable traits from the other parent rather than muting them.

Resin is another big reason Yoshi stands out. Moonbow #99 can pass strong resin coverage into a percentage of its offspring, and this cross is described as having bold bag appeal alongside its heavy green terpene profile. It is a photoperiod variety suited to indoor and outdoor cultivation.

Yoshi will make most sense to growers and collectors who want regular photoperiod genetics with old-school fuel, oily dankness and less of the polished sweet-purple profile. It’s a deliberately dank, greener expression from Archive Seeds, built around a Moonbow #99 selection the breeder clearly values.
