Banana OG Auto F4

Banana OG Auto F4 is Night Owl Seeds chasing one very specific thing: a banana profile that actually smells and tastes like banana. It is available as feminised autoflowering seeds, worked from OrgnKid’s Banana OG clone crossed with Wizard’s Apprentice F3.

The project started after Night Owl picked up a one-off cut of OrgnKid’s Banana OG in San Francisco in 2019. After trying plenty of banana-named strains that didn’t really deliver on the fruit, this clone stood out with a strong, unmistakable banana character. The OG side was pushed well into the background, leaving gas, funk and sweet overripe banana bread at the front.

To turn that clone into an autoflowering line, Night Owl used a sturdy Wizard’s Apprentice F3 auto male. That same male had also been used in Marathon OG Auto, Lemon Levitation, Maui Magic and Pura Conjura, and Night Owl found it allowed photoperiod mother traits to be selected for clearly in the offspring. In the Banana OG work, that mattered because the goal was not a vague fruitiness, but the loud banana profile from the original clone.

The line was selected over several generations. In the F1s, Night Owl looked through 48 seeds, choosing a male with sturdy branching, tighter flower clusters and a very sweet banana stem rub, alongside a resin-heavy female with the same overripe banana funk. The F2 generation came from over 140 seeds and included some interesting non-banana plants, including OG-gassy types and a very unusual pink urinal mint expression, but those were not the plants used to carry the release forward.

For the F4 feminised stock, Night Owl reversed selected F3 females and used them to pollinate 14 different F3 females, giving a wider final pool to choose from. The reversal used for the Banana OG Auto F4 pollinations is described as medium-sized, quick-finishing and heavy in resin, with thick flower clusters and a big Banana Candy flavour that matched the chosen #11 mother.

Expect the banana side to dominate. Stem rubs bring banana Laffy Taffy, banana bread and overripe banana sweetness, with deeper notes of cantaloupe, watermelon, green apple and even a touch of sunscreen sitting underneath. Those extra notes are there, but they don’t take over. This is still very much a banana-forward Night Owl project.

Banana OG Auto F4 is suited to indoor or outdoor growing and has a reported flowering time of 75–85 days from sprout. Plants are described as medium-sized, with solid structure, thick flower clusters and a heavy coating of sandy resin. The stated yield is 2–4 ounces.

This is a good pick if you want an autoflower built around a properly worked flavour target rather than a loose theme. The appeal is the combination of clear banana candy and banana bread aroma, resin production and Night Owl’s multi-generation selection from the original OrgnKid Banana OG cut.
