Description
Knock Out is a flavour-hunting line from Archive Seeds built around some awkward, high-reward genetics. It is available as regular seeds, and the cross is Irene x Zkittlez #7 paired with five males from Flavour Pack. Flavour Pack itself is Hollywood PK (OG Kush type) x Moonbow F1, so there is a clear Kush, OG and Z-style thread running through the family.
The Irene x Zkittlez #7 mother is the difficult bit, and also the reason this one exists. Archive has held that selection for around a decade and describes it as a plant people keep coming back to for the smoke, even though it is not an easy one to grow well. The breeder also notes that a related Irene x Zkittlez #4 grew better, but did not match the #7 for flavour, and that same difference showed up in the offspring. In short: the #7 was kept because the taste was worth the trouble.
Growers should not treat Knock Out as a simple, forgiving production line. The Irene side is reported to be very sensitive to nitrogen overfeeding, showing toxicity before other plants in the same room look unhappy. Too much nitrogen can show as spiky growth, burnt tips, dark green leaves and lower yield. Backing off the feed is part of the job with this line, especially if you are used to running heavier-feeding plants alongside it.
When it is handled well, the parent’s terp profile is the whole point. Late in flower, as the plant senesces, the leaves can turn dark purple and the flowers can show a mottled green-and-purple camo look. The aroma is described as old-school Irene OG weight: OG, Bubba and hash-plant fuel, with a pungent Zkittlez floral top note that can come across almost like rose water. It is not just a smell-on-the-plant thing either; the #7 is noted for carrying that flavour clearly into the smoke.
The Flavour Pack males broaden the search. Archive describes plants in this line moving in a few different directions: some with a deeper purple floral bouquet, some showing more of the chemical Kush profile from Flavour Pack, and others landing closer to Bubba/Irene hash-plant funk. That makes Knock Out more of a selection project than a uniform, paint-by-numbers strain. regular seeds growers who enjoy sorting through males and females, keeping cuts, and looking for standout profiles will get more out of it than someone wanting the most predictable run possible.
There is one important caution. The Irene line is known for passing on some hermaphroditic traits, and Archive says this hybrid is no exception. Plants showing unusual growth, such as extra branches at the nodes, fused tips or odd flower clusters around internodal branch sites, should be watched closely when grown from seed. The breeder notes that clones, like the original Irene, seem to have much less of an issue, but seed plants need a vigilant eye.
Knock Out suits experienced growers who are happy to work around sensitivity and variation in exchange for uncommon flavour. It is not the tidy, easy option. It is a terp hunt with real Irene OG character, Zkittlez #7 flavour, and enough Flavour Pack influence to throw some very different Kush, floral and hash-funk expressions.
