Description
Planet Diesel is Archive Seeds working Original Diesel into a modern resin-heavy line, using Original Diesel from the Schroomy420 cut crossed with a Planet Purple F2 male. It is available as regular seeds, and the format makes sense for what Archive is presenting here: a line with real selection potential, especially for anyone interested in Diesel breeding work or keeping standout males and females.
The Original Diesel side is the old Schroomy420 clone that Archive says they have held since 2004. They describe it as a little danker and skunkier than Sour Diesel, while still very close in that classic Diesel family. Archive also makes a useful point about Diesel in seed form: it can be difficult to capture that parent quality cleanly in an early cross, and the better work often starts showing more clearly through F2s and later generations. Planet Diesel is positioned with that in mind, as an F1 starting point for selection rather than a finished, tightly narrowed line.
The other half of the cross is the Planet Purple F2 male, a parent Archive rates for passing on strong resin content and plant performance. In Planet Diesel, that male is said to sit naturally alongside the Original Diesel profile rather than pulling it too far away. Expect a base of deep, sweet, fuelly diesel, with some plants moving more earthy and doughy in a sherb/cookies way. Others can show a brighter, more effervescent edge from the Z influence in Planet Purple.
The most interesting plants, according to Archive’s description, are the ones where the old-school Diesel traits and the newer dessert-gas notes collide properly: burnt rubber, chemmy fuel, oily sweet diesel, sherb and Z all in the mix. That’s the sort of profile that makes this line stand out from a plain Diesel reproduction. It still has the greasy, rubbery side people chase in Diesel, but the Planet Purple male adds extra resin and a more modern lift to the flavour range.
Flowering is generally in the medium range, around 65–75 days. Archive notes that longer-flowering plants can appear, usually holding more of Diesel’s extended flowering habit. Those aren’t necessarily write-offs: some may be worth taking past 80 days if you’re selecting carefully and want to see what the slower plants can do.
Planet Diesel will probably make the most sense to growers who enjoy hunting through regular seeds rather than just running a uniform finished release. It has strong parentage, a clearly stated breeding angle and enough variation to reward selection. For a collector or breeder chasing Original Diesel traits with added resin and sweet Z-sherb fuel notes, this is one of Archive Seeds’ more purposeful Diesel projects.
