Description
Big Bud Auto keeps the practical appeal of the old Big Bud line and puts it into an automatic flowering format. Seed City Seeds offers it as feminised autoflowering seeds, bred from Big Bud × Ruderalis. The Ruderalis side brings the age-dependent flowering, while the Big Bud side is here for dense, heavy, resinous flowers and that familiar sweet-skunk profile.
The background matters with this one. Classic Big Bud became known for unusually large, dense flower formation and heavy yield potential, with strong Afghan indica and Skunk heritage behind it. Later established Big Bud lines are also associated with Northern Lights ancestry. This autoflowering version keeps the line’s indica-heavy character, listed at 80% indica and 20% sativa, and is given a THC range of 18–22%.
Big Bud Auto is described as compact, robust and hardy, with a strong main stem and supporting side branches. It can still reach up to around 1.5 m, so it’s not a tiny windowsill novelty, but it stays straightforward enough for newer growers according to the breeder information. It suits indoor or outdoor cultivation and is associated with continental conditions, doing well in reasonably warm, sunny weather.
The life cycle is quick: 6–8 weeks from germination to harvest. Because it’s autoflowering, outdoor harvest is not tied to the normal seasonal photoperiod, making it an all-season type where conditions allow. Reported yields are 300–500 g/m² indoors and 70–120 g per plant outdoors.
The flowers are a key part of the appeal. Expect very dense, hard buds with heavy resin and trichome production, giving them a frosted, crystalline look. That resinous finish fits the Big Bud reputation well, especially for growers who like chunky indica-style flowers without waiting on a photoperiod plant.
Aromas are mainly sweet and skunky, with fruity, earthy and mildly spicy undertones. The flavour follows a similar line: skunk and sweetness are the main notes, with the wider Big Bud family also linked to sweet fruit and light spice or earthiness. Listed terpenes include alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, caryophyllene, caryophyllene oxide, farnesene, humulene, linalool and myrcene.
Effects are described as creative, energetic and focused, with wider notes of happiness, mental clarity and strong physical relaxation. That mix gives Big Bud Auto a slightly broader feel than a simple couch-heavy indica description would suggest, while still keeping the body-led strength associated with its background.
