Permanent Ink

Permanent Ink is built around the sort of profile that made modern dessert-gas strains impossible to ignore: strong resin, dense dark flowers and a smell that mixes sweetness with something sharper and stranger. Seed City Seeds offers it as feminised seeds, with Biscotti, Jealousy and Sherb Bx1 genetics behind the cross.

This selection is listed as an approximately 50% indica and 50% sativa hybrid. On paper that sounds nicely balanced, but the finished flower is not mild or middle-of-the-road. THC is stated at approximately 32–34%, with around 0.2% CBD, putting Permanent Ink at the very strong end of THC-rich modern cultivars.

The Permanent Marker-style background is easy to spot in the aroma. The name comes from the unusual mix of sharp chemical, solvent-like and slightly soapy notes, rather than a simple one-note ink smell. Underneath that pungent edge are sweet candy, creamy dessert touches, lemon, pine, floral sweetness, earth, diesel and gas. Some plants can also show mint, pepper, berries, subtle vanilla or extra creamy sweetness.

The flavour follows the same layered pattern. It can open with sweetness and citrus, then move through creamy, floral and herbal notes before a stronger diesel, earthy and lightly chemical finish comes through. The terpene profile commonly includes caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene, with humulene also represented in this selection. Those terpenes help explain the mix of citrus brightness, peppery spice, earth, floral sweetness and deeper fuel-like character.

Medium hybrid growth with heavy, frosty buds

Permanent Ink grows as a medium-sized, vigorous photoperiod hybrid rather than an extreme indica bush or a stretched-out sativa. Expect a sturdy central stem, solid side branching and moderate internodal spacing. It has enough lateral growth to make plenty of flowering sites, while the branches and flower clusters should still remain clearly defined as the plant matures.

Reported mature height is around 1.5 metres. Stretch at the start of bloom is usually moderate, though some phenotypes may become noticeably taller during the transition. Flowering time is generally 8–10 weeks, which keeps it in a practical range for growers who want a high-potency photoperiod without a drawn-out finish.

Indoor yields are listed at approximately 500–550 g/m². Outdoors, plants can potentially reach around 700–850 g per plant in favourable conditions. It is better understood as a resin and quality-led strain than a pure bulk producer, although the yield figures are still respectable.

The flowers are one of the clearest reasons people look twice at this line. Buds tend to form dense, compact, chunky clusters with tightly packed and swollen calyxes, often rounded or bluntly conical in shape. A good flower-to-leaf ratio helps the mature buds look solid and substantial.

Colour can be very striking. Deep olive, forest and rich green tones form the base, while violet, burgundy and dark purple can appear in the buds and nearby sugar leaves. Some mature plants show midnight-purple foliage against greener flower tissue. Bright orange, copper or amber pistils stand out strongly against the darker colours.

Resin production is a major visual feature. Mature flowers can develop a very heavy coating of pale crystalline trichomes across the calyxes and sugar leaves, sometimes giving the upper surfaces a sandy-white or silver look. The most representative plants finish with dark green and purple chunky buds, swollen calyxes, vivid orange pistils and an exceptionally thick frost.

Effect and overall fit

The effect is usually powerful, with a bright first phase. Expect euphoric, happy and mentally stimulating qualities, often with a creative edge and a clear cerebral buzz. As it develops, the physical side becomes more noticeable, moving into calm, comfortable relaxation.

At moderate amounts it may remain mentally engaging, while larger amounts can feel much heavier and more sedating. That creeping body effect, combined with the very high stated THC potential, means Permanent Ink can come across stronger than its 50/50 indica-sativa split might suggest.
