Description
Permanent Ink Auto takes the modern Permanent Marker profile and puts it into a quicker, age-dependent format. Seed City Seeds offers it as feminised autoflowering seeds, with genetics listed as Permanent Marker × Ruderalis. The Permanent Marker side is generally recognised as (Biscotti × Sherb Bx) × Jealousy, while the Ruderalis influence provides the automatic flowering trait and shorter seed-to-harvest cycle.
The original Permanent Marker cultivar has become one of the more talked-about US lines of recent years. It was bred by Seed Junky Genetics and selected and commercialised by Doja Pak, gaining a strong reputation through 2022–2023 for its mix of sweet, creamy candy notes, gas and funk. Permanent Ink Auto keeps that character in mind, rather than turning it into a plain fast-flowering sweet strain.
This is a balanced 50% indica and 50% sativa variety, with THC stated at 32–34%. Expect a strong profile on paper: creative, euphoric and happy effects are noted, with an uplifting cerebral side and a relaxing physical component. It’s not described as one-dimensional, which suits the 50/50 background.
The aroma and flavour are a big part of the appeal here. The core notes are candy, floral and sweet, backed by pungent diesel or gas, earthy funk and the slightly soapy edge often linked with Permanent Marker genetics. Sweet sherbet and creamy candy sit alongside that heavier fuel-like side, so it should appeal to collectors who like dessert strains with a bit more bite.
Permanent Ink Auto has an 8–10 week life cycle from germination to harvest. Flowering is triggered by age rather than seasonal photoperiod, so it’s described as suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation, including temperate climates and all-season outdoor use where conditions allow. The breeder information also presents it as beginner-suitable.
For an autoflowering variety it can get fairly substantial, reaching up to around 1.5 m. Growth is described as vigorous, with dense, highly resinous flowers and heavy trichome coverage. Colour can range from green into deep purple, with bright orange pistils strongly associated with the Permanent Marker line. Reported yields are 350–500 g/m² indoors and 50–100 g per plant outdoors.
Caryophyllene is the named terpene in the current auto specification, matching the sharper, gassy and earthy side of the profile. If you’re after a high-THC automatic with recognisable Permanent Marker ancestry, resin-heavy flowers and a sweet-floral aroma cut with diesel funk, Permanent Ink Auto is the sort of strain that makes sense on the shortlist.
