Description
Buddha’s Sister is a Soma Seeds original with a proper Amsterdam coffeeshop story behind it. Available as feminised seeds, it comes from Afghani x Hawaiian Super Skunk x Big Skunk Korean and has a 60% indica and 40% sativa balance.
This variety was once called Soma Skunk V+. Soma renamed it Buddha’s Sister to better fit its character and make it more appealing to Amsterdam coffeeshops, and the new name quickly stuck. After the change, it regularly sold out and became one of the best-selling varieties at De Dampkring. Soma also describes it as a sibling of Siddhartha.
The taste is sharp and memorable: tart cherry candy rather than simple sweetness. The scent follows the same line, with that sour-tart edge sitting over its skunk background. Compared with Reclining Buddha, the Afghani Hawaiian part of the cross is said to have increased yield, while giving a less sweet profile.
In the grow room, Buddha’s Sister is tall and lanky with lots of side branching. It is better treated as a multi-branch plant than squeezed into a classic sea of green, though it can still work in sea of green with enough attention. It also does well hydroponically, while Soma’s organic soil methods are noted for giving good results.
Flowering time is 9–10 weeks, with a minimum yield of 35–40 grams. The buds are more fluffy and loosely packed than dense, and Soma links that structure with mould resistance while still giving a pleasing crop.
The flowers have a slippery, silky feel from greasy resin. That resin production makes Buddha’s Sister well suited to hash making, and Soma notes that grooming the plants can leave plenty of finger hash behind. The variety is also described as high in CBD.
The effect is powerful, creative and cerebral. With its tart cherry-skunk flavour, resin-heavy flowers and old coffeeshop reputation, Buddha’s Sister is a good fit for customers who like classic Soma breeding with a distinctive taste rather than a modern lookalike profile.
