Lavender OG

Lavender OG is a Soma Seeds cross of Lavender x Soma’s cut True OG Kush, available as feminised seeds. It’s built around two names with proper character: Soma’s colour-rich Lavender line and a reversed female True OG Kush plant kept by the breeder for some time.

The Lavender side has a bit of history behind it. In the late 1990s, Soma was running different breeding experiments and produced a plant first known as Soma Skunk nr 10. As more people grew it, the leaves showed black and purple colouring, and the name was changed to Lavender. That line went on to win first prize at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 2005, with further awards including Spannabis 2017.

For Lavender OG, Soma’s old friend Joe reversed a female True OG Kush to make the cross. Soma describes the variety as having a special taste, with a terpene-rich lavender and OG flavour that also carries well into hash. It has also picked up cup recognition of its own, taking third place for best indica at the Clouds in the City Cup in Amsterdam, while its water hash won second place at the same event.

The balance is listed as 70% indica and 30% sativa, so expect the OG side and the Lavender line to come through in a more indica-weighted frame. Flowering time is 9–10 weeks, with a stated minimum yield of 35–40 grams. Soma notes that it is not a difficult plant to grow, and that supercropping the main top encourages the side tops to follow quickly.

Lavender OG makes most sense for growers and collectors who like old-school Soma breeding, darker Lavender heritage and Kush flavour rather than a plain modern cookie-cutter profile. The hash note is worth paying attention to as well: this one is described around lavender, OG and rich terpenes, not just generic sweetness.
