Description
Somango is one of Soma Seeds’ fruit-led classics, a photoperiod variety available as feminised seeds. It was previously known as Soma #5, then renamed for the tropical mango aroma and flavour that made it stand out in Soma’s Originals range.
The genetics combine Jack Herer with Big Skunk Korean, with Super Skunk also listed in the lineage. That gives Somango a more complex background than a simple fruit strain, while the finished balance is given as 75% indica and 25% sativa.
In the grow room, Somango is best treated as a plant that likes to branch. Its genetics encourage long side branches and it can finish on the taller side, so it suits growers who are happy to let it develop into a multi-branch plant. A sea of green setup is still possible, but the branching and height need keeping in check rather than ignored.
Flowering time is 9–10 weeks. Yields are described as moderate, with a minimum yield around 25–30 grams. Soma’s own preference is to grow it indoors in soil with fully organic nutrients, though other media are also said to give satisfactory results.
Somango gains extra visual interest as it matures. The leaves can shade towards purple, while the buds become heavily coated in crystals. Soma notes that this resin coverage can make fine finger hash, which is a nice detail for anyone who enjoys a sticky, resinous harvest as much as a colourful one.
The smoke is fragrant, tasty and strongly tied to that mango character. Effects are described as uplifting, euphoric and mentally stimulating rather than heavy and couch-bound. It’s the sort of Soma line that suits people after a brighter, more alert effect with a creative edge, backed by old-school Skunk and Jack Herer genetics.
