Description

Jelly Cake is the Barney’s Farm take on a dessert-heavy Biscotti x Sunset Sherbet cross, built around creamy fruit, dense resin and a proper indica-leaning finish. It’s available as feminised seeds, and the balance is given as 80% indica and 20% sativa, so the mood is more evening comfort than racy daytime edge.

The THC figure is listed at 27%, which puts Jelly Cake firmly in the high-potency bracket. That strength is matched with a flavour profile that’s more detailed than the name first suggests: jelly-like sweetness, candied kiwi, watermelon candy, sweet berries and a smooth cream finish all show up in the description from Barney’s Farm.

The parentage is simple and useful to know: Biscotti x Sunset Sherbet. Biscotti brings that dessert strain feel, with sweet, creamy and nutty-cake notes, while Sunset Sherbet adds the softer fruit side. Jelly Cake keeps the confectionery feel without losing the heavier relaxation expected from an 80% indica hybrid.

On the nose, expect sweet berries, kiwi, creamy vanilla and a fruity jelly aroma. As it opens up, the profile can bring in citrus touches and a light floral rose note. The flavour starts with sweet cream, then moves through kiwi and watermelon candy before berry tones, nutty cake and vanilla come through. The finish is described as lingering, with creamy dessert flavours left on the palate alongside brighter citrus and floral edges.

Jelly Cake’s effect starts with a fairly quick lift. Barney’s Farm describes euphoric, cheerful and sociable qualities early on, with laughter and a brighter headspace part of the experience. That doesn’t stay light for long. The body side gradually becomes more obvious, moving into deep physical relaxation, tingling sensations, increased appetite and a sedative finish. It’s a better fit for winding down, relaxed evenings or preparing for sleep than for staying sharp and busy.

Plants are described as manageable indoors, typically reaching around 100–120 cm. Outdoors they can grow up to 200 cm. The flowers form as dense, sturdy nuggets with deep emerald colouring, occasional violet specks, amber hairs and a heavy coating of crystalline trichomes. Resin production is one of the more visible traits here, and it suits growers who like thick, frosty indica-style flowers.

Flowering takes 8–9 weeks, or 56–63 days. Outdoor harvests are given for mid to late September. Indoor yields are around 450+ g/m², while outdoor plants can produce about 700 g per plant in suitable conditions.

Jelly Cake is described as forgiving and rewarding to cultivate. It responds well to topping, fimming, low-stress training and strategic pruning. Barney’s Farm also suggests that an extended vegetative period and light defoliation can help with airflow and light penetration around the many bud sites. The branches are sturdy enough to carry heavy flowers, and warm, sun-filled environments are recommended outdoors.

This is a good choice if you want a modern dessert strain with clear named genetics, high THC and a flavour that goes beyond plain sweetness. The creamy kiwi and watermelon candy side gives it plenty of shelf appeal, but the heavier, sleepy finish is the part to keep in mind when deciding when to use it.
