Madonna Triploid

Madonna Triploid is Seed Stockers’ first triploid release, built around stable IBL genetics and a more technical breeding route than most modern cannabis varieties. It is available as feminised autoflowering seeds, with the main point of difference being its triploid make-up: plants with three sets of chromosomes, produced by crossing tetraploid and diploid parent plants.

Seed Stockers developed Madonna Triploid through a European R&D collaboration. The breeder had stable, THC-rich IBL lines ready for production in September 2024, then linked up with a university biology team experienced in polyploid work in agricultural hemp and other plant species. Seed Stockers supplied the stabilised cannabis base; the research team brought the triploid development expertise. Madonna Triploid is the first release from that project.

That IBL base is a useful part of the story, not just a bit of breeding language. Seed Stockers positions Madonna Triploid as a triploid made from carefully developed inbred lines rather than unstable bulk seed stock. The aim is strong uniformity from seed, predictable structure and the “Extra Virgin” trait: a greatly reduced risk of seed formation. That near-sterile tendency is highlighted as especially useful for outdoor and balcony growers, including mixed environments where seeded flowers can be a concern.

Madonna Triploid is indica dominant, with THC reported at up to 28%. The listed flavour is candy gassy, and the effect is described as happy chill. It is very much a high-THC option rather than a mild daytime smoke, with Seed Stockers placing it in their super-high THC bracket.

Strong structure, big vigour and serious water demand

This is a vigorous plant and it needs a bit of planning. Seed Stockers describes thicker stems, more robust branching and better support for heavy flowers, along with faster early development and very consistent growth patterns. When Madonna Triploid gets plenty of root space, strong light and time to build, it can take up a surprising amount of room.

Outdoors, the breeder’s advice is to give it space from the start. A large container or well-prepared soil is recommended, with enough distance between neighbouring plants. Topping once or several times can help keep the shape shorter and bushier, while training and spreading the branches can improve light penetration and airflow. Branch support should be in place before flowering begins, especially if you are aiming for the massive yield potential Seed Stockers associates with this variety.

Indoors, its speed and stretch need earlier control. Seed Stockers recommends avoiding unnecessary root space if final size needs limiting, starting training early and keeping enough distance between the canopy and the grow lights. Hydroponic systems need particular care with height, as the growth can be quick enough to fill a standard tent before the grower expects it.

Water use is one of the more distinctive practical points. A large Madonna Triploid can drink considerably more than many conventional cannabis varieties, even when it is around the same height. Seed Stockers links this to broad leaves, dense foliage, an extensive active root system and a strong response to bright sun, heat, low humidity and wind. Their observations also found stomata around 30% larger than the diploid comparison plants examined, which may help explain why it can dry out faster. In hot, sunny or windy outdoor conditions, it may need watering earlier than other plants nearby.

Flowering and finish

The listed flower period is 7–8 weeks. Seed Stockers also notes increased resin production as a general advantage of triploid cannabis, often associated with higher cannabinoid and terpene levels. For Madonna Triploid, the practical picture is a high-THC, heavy-yielding plant with dense flowers, strong branching and notable consistency from seed.

Madonna Triploid suits growers who want newer triploid breeding without losing a clear grow brief: strong vigour, big structure, candy-gassy terpenes, up to 28% THC and a relaxed happy effect. Seed Stockers rates it as beginner-friendly, but its size and thirst still deserve attention, especially indoors or in hot outdoor weather.
