Grapefruit Superstar is a predominantly sativa strain bred by crossing Cinderella 99 with a strain known only as Superfast Sativa. Grapefruit Superstar is easy to grow, is fast-flowering and thrives in conditions of low light making it a great choice for outdoor cultivation in higher latitudes.
Vigorous in vegetative growth, Grapefruit Superstar can grow to a height of up to 300 cm. outdoors so it should be put into an early flowering schedule indoors unless space is no problem. Yields of about 500 gr/m2 in 8 - 9 weeks of flowering indoors while outdoors in the northern hemisphere harvest will be in late September.
It is a typically-uplifting sativa strain which helps to combat fatigue.
Strain FAQ
Do 12/12 photoperiod strains have an edge in terpene profiles?
Sometimes, a little stress goes a long way, especially when it comes to pumping up the terpenes in 12/12 photoperiod strains. The stringent light schedule can stress the plants just enough to kick their flavor and aroma profile up a notch!
What contributes to the citrus flavour of this strain?
Velencene smells delicious and orangey, named after Valencia oranges. Though less frequent than limonene, it's a prominent terpene in orange-flavored strains.
What does this strain's South American make-up mean for its indica/sativa profile?
Equatorial South American nations explain the abundance of Sativa traits in South American strains. These protracted growth seasons produce towering, narrow-leafed cannabis plants that take longer to flower.
How does greenhouse cultivation extend the legal growing season for certain cannabis strains?
It is said that the beauty of a greenhouse is in how it lets legal growers play with time, using tricks like extra lighting or shading to stretch the growing season beyond what Mother Nature dictates. This flexibility means strains that would usually get just one shot at harvesting outdoors each year can enjoy multiple cycles. This reportedly results in an increased yield and greater efficiency.
Why do strains ready by the end of September mature quickly?
These strains mature quickly due to genetic adaptations from cooler, northern parent strains. This mix of genetics speeds up flowering and maturation, leaving them complete just in time for autumn.
