HortiLab have been around the cannabis breeding scene for a long time and have built themselves a pretty formidable reputation, particularly amongst fans of old-school Sour genetics and seriously resinous plants.

One of the strains that really put them on the map was StarBud, an exceptionally resin-heavy variety which absolutely cleaned up on the competition circuit. It took 1st place in the Indica category at both the 2009 High Times Cannabis Cup and the 2009 IC Mag 420 Cup, before continuing to pick up awards over the following years. HortiLab even turned all that resin into StarBud Meltz, which won the Concentrates category at the 2010 High Times Cannabis Cup!

StarBud also became the foundation for another of HortiLab’s most famous creations, Sour Power. They selected a sativa-dominant StarBud sister and crossed it with their ECSD V3 male, bringing East Coast Sour Diesel genetics into the mix and creating the sour, funky and extremely resinous strain that would become another firm favourite.

Sour Power has an awards cabinet that would make most breeders rather jealous! It placed 3rd in the Sativa category at the 2010 High Times Cannabis Cup, won the IC Mag 420 Sativa Breeder Cup in both 2012 and 2013, and continued picking up trophies at cannabis competitions across Europe and beyond.

HortiLab haven’t simply sat around admiring the trophies either. Their more recent work continues to build on those established genetics while introducing modern favourites, with strains such as Super Power, Prisma and Tropz joining Sour Power in their current collection. Their official range now includes regular, feminised and autoflowering seeds.
