Malawi x PCK is without any doubt one of the most complete sativa/indica hybrids in our catalogue, for its yield, potency, quality of the effect, versatility, resistance, beauty, complexity of terpenes and high resin production.
To create this outstanding F1 hybrid, we have pollinated the famous 'old Malawi killer' mother with the elite purple Pakistan Chitral Kush. While Violeta (or other Malawi/Pakistani hybrid) is more compact, columnar and flowers faster, Malawi x PCK is more vigorous, powerful and higher yielding, with taller outdoor structure and stronger branching, although the flowering time is 1-2 weeks longer than her sister Violeta.
Malawi x PCK also very frequently displays the maroon colors and forest fruit aromas typical of the Pakistani, with a very powerful and long-lasting sativa/indica effect, and high resistance against fungi and rain.
Strain FAQ
How are breeders using heat-resistant strain genetics?
Breeders want to add these heat-resistant genes to other strains. Crossbreeding attempts to increase the genetic pool and expand cultivation possibilities across climates. Great strides are being made every day in this area!
Why is pest resistance especially important for cannabis strains legally grown in greenhouses?
When cannabis calls a greenhouse home, it's in a unique spot that's part cozy shelter, part natural world. This can be a double-edged sword, as the enclosed space might invite pests and mold to settle in. Strains that bring natural resistance to these unwelcome guests are said to be key players in a greenhouse setup, cutting down the need for harsh chemical pesticides and keeping things clean and green.
How have African and Middle Eastern cannabis strains adapted to their climates?
African cannabis strains, especially those near the equator, thrive in high humidity and bright sunlight for long growing seasons. While Middle Eastern strains have gained drought resilience and so they thrive in desert-like settings.
Were Sativa strains ever used for anything other than getting high or medicine?
Sativas' capabilities go beyond just these two things. Their strong fibres have been used to make ropes, clothes, and paper. This shows just how varied and valuable the cannabis plant has been even before its more modern uses.
Are these early-finishing cannabis strains culturally or historically significant?
Absolutely. Many mid-October strains have been grown for generations in some places and have cultural and historical relevance. Many are named after either their origin or unique qualities from their natural environment.
