Durban Z F1 takes the bright, racy side of Durban Poison and crosses it with the sweet candy-citrus character of Original Z. Barney’s Farm Seeds has built this as a first-generation F1 hybrid, so the focus is on vigour, a more even plant structure and a flavour profile that stays consistent across the crop. It is available as feminised seeds.

The parentage is simple and important: Durban Poison x Original Z. Durban Poison brings the well-known African landrace influence, with its clear, energising sativa reputation. Original Z adds the modern sweet, fruit-candy edge. The finished balance is listed as 70% sativa and 30% indica, with 27% THC.

In the grow room, Durban Z F1 has a fairly tall, sativa-dominant look without becoming unmanageable. Barney’s Farm describes plants reaching around 120 cm indoors, with a semi-open branching pattern and slender serrated leaves. The flowers form elongated, fox-tail style buds, with lime-green colouring and violet streaks from the Original Z side. Resin production is a clear part of the appeal here, giving the flowers a crystalline coating and plenty of visual presence.

Flowering is reported at approximately 56 days. Indoor yields are around 550 g/m². Outdoors, plants can reach up to 150 cm and produce up to 750 g per plant, with harvest falling from late September to early October. The structure responds well to common training methods including topping, FIM and low-stress training, which can help encourage side growth and build out the canopy.

The aroma is one of the most distinctive parts of Durban Z F1. Expect sweet lemon, lively citrus and fruity candy notes, with tropical fruit in the mix rather than a flat generic sweetness. When the flowers are broken apart, spicier touches and light floral notes come through, backed by zesty herbal freshness. It keeps a clean, bright edge rather than becoming heavy or earthy.

The flavour follows the same line but adds a little more movement. The first impression is tart lemon and sweet citrus, followed by a creamy fruit-candy sweetness. Pine and herbal notes appear through the middle, with a subtle gas note underneath. The finish is lingering sweet-tart citrus with a gentle spicy touch, so the Z influence is clear without losing the sharper Durban side.

Effects are described as quick, cerebral and uplifting. Durban Z F1 is aimed at a clear-headed, energetic style of experience, with mental stimulation, focus and a floaty but functional mood lift. Physical heaviness is kept low in the description, so the emphasis is on daytime use, creative work, social activity and staying mentally switched on. With 27% THC, it is still a potent choice, just one with a cleaner, more alert profile than a couch-heavy indica.
