Description
Cadillac Rainbow is best known for its dark, heavily frosted flowers and its clash of sweet Runtz-style fruit with proper fuel and funk. Seed City Seeds offers Cadillac Rainbow as feminised seeds, with photoperiod flowering and an indica-dominant profile. It’s a Pure Michigan × Runtz cross, pairing the dense, resin-heavy colour of Pure Michigan with the sweeter fruit, citrus and candy side of Runtz.
This isn’t just a sugary candy strain with a fancy name. The Runtz influence is there in the sweeter edge, but the Pure Michigan side gives Cadillac Rainbow a darker look and a much more pungent aroma. Expect sweet fruit, lemon and citrus over diesel, gas, earth and pepper, with some plants showing cherry, berry, tropical fruit, creamy sweetness, mint or more savoury notes. Some expressions can even move into garlic-like, broth-like or fermented funk, so the fuel side is a real part of the character.
Potency is a major part of the appeal. Strong examples commonly sit around 25–30% THC, with selected batches reported above 30%. THC can vary from plant to plant, but Cadillac Rainbow is still best treated as a very high-potency choice rather than a gentle everyday smoke.
Dark colour, heavy resin and solid flowers
The finished flowers are the part most people notice first. Buds are usually dense, firm and compact, often forming chunky rounded or short conical clusters rather than long, loose spears. Upper colas can show closely stacked nodes, while lower flowers may stay more individually separated along the stem.
Colour can be dramatic. Mature buds often develop deep purple, violet, plum and almost black tones mixed with bright, lime or forest green. Orange, copper or amber pistils stand out strongly against the darker flower tissue. Purple can also run into the sugar leaves, and some fan leaves may darken late in bloom, though green normally remains visible somewhere in the plant.
The resin coverage is one of Cadillac Rainbow’s strongest visual traits. Mature flowers can carry a thick silver-white coat of long trichomes, spreading across the buds and well onto surrounding sugar leaves. On the best-looking plants, the contrast is very clear: dark purple and green flowers, bright pistils and a pale frosty layer over the top.
Plant shape and flowering time
Cadillac Rainbow grows as a medium to medium-tall plant rather than an ultra-short indica bush. It has a sturdy build, moderate branching and a fairly open canopy, with visible internodal spacing beneath the upper flower clusters. Some plants branch out into an even, multi-topped shape, while others show stronger upward growth with more restrained side branching.
There is noticeable stretch at the start of flowering. A mature plant can roughly double in height after the switch into bloom, so it’s worth allowing room above the canopy rather than expecting a squat plant that stays put. The stems are generally strong, and the open structure keeps individual buds and sections of stem distinguishable instead of forming one continuous leafy column.
Flowering usually takes around 8–9 weeks, with 56–63 days being a representative indoor window for established selections. Some phenotypes may benefit from a little more time, especially if the grower is waiting for the densest, darkest and most resinous finish.
Flavour, terpenes and effect
The flavour starts on the sweeter side, with fruit, lemon or candy notes coming through early. Heavier diesel, earthy and peppery flavours follow behind, and individual plants can add creamy fruit, berry, cherry, mint or more savoury funk. Commonly reported terpenes include limonene, beta-caryophyllene and myrcene, with linalool and humulene also appearing regularly. That fits the mix of citrus, spice, earth, floral hints and strong gas.
The effect tends to come on with a quick euphoric lift, bringing a brighter mood and a hazy, sociable head feel. As it develops, the indica influence becomes more obvious, moving into warm physical relaxation and a calming body effect that can feel tingly. Stronger amounts may become much heavier, so Cadillac Rainbow will suit customers who want serious potency, striking bag appeal and a flavour that balances sweet fruit against diesel and savoury funk.
