Flying Dutchman Seeds, a pioneering cannabis seed company, has a rich history that traces back to the early 1980s in Amsterdam. The founder, Eddy, played a crucial role in shaping the cannabis genetics scene with his extensive experience and progressive approach to breeding. The company's inception as a professional genetics wholesale business occurred around 1984, but it wasn't until 1998 that Flying Dutchman Seeds established their retail outlet, making their unique genetics available to a wider audience.
Eddy's collaboration with the Skunkman, who brought over a variety of landrace and pure breeding strains from the United States, including the first Skunk #1, was pivotal in the development of new hybrid strains. Their joint efforts in the early 1980s involved growing tens of thousands of plants to find exceptional parental stock, which were then inbred until the strains were considered stable.
